My Honest Chair
LC-01 is a chair whose honesty is in its handcrafted nature and deceptive comfort. The prime inspiration was the infinity loop, drawing from its curvilinear balance, continuity and above all, simplicity. This is a design narrative that reflects my design process: classic-modern, clean lines-smooth curves. The focus is on materials - industrial steel and plastic - raised to a new level by careful handcrafting. Lightweight. Nothing hidden. All seen…..especially comfort.
Process
“Keep calm and have a seat”. And they did. All shapes, sizes, and ages. and one response: oh so Comfortable.! The pared-down simplicity of this chair seemed to be more of an invitation than the placard below it. They sat in it as they found its transparency fun, they sank into it seeking and finding comfort and they gingerly sat worried by its thinness and exulted in its “deceptive comfort”. I consider this my design signature - celebration of materials, clean, simple geometry, and a pared-down aesthetic. More, embellishments, decorative - not for my chair. Not for me.
